Good beautiful Spring morning: We have fought the wind all winter, and will again, but right now it could not be more "springy"
The Western Fremont Historical Society is developing a database for all the resource material that has been collected over the last 50 years (or longer). We are inviting all who have family history, pictures, letters or other memorabilia that would help someone else with their research about the area please let us know.
We have received a grant from Sangre De Cristo Electric Association in the amount of $200.00 tto purchase a software program that will help us scan and retain the viability of each piece of information. Thank you SDCEA!!

Historical Fremont County - Pioneers for the Ages
We are very fortunate, here in Fremont County, to have the Royal Gorge Regional Museum and History Center for a resource. The Fremont County Heritage Commission initiated the "Spirits of the Past" as a visual reminder to all the folks here, and the tourists who travel through, that we are special.
The "Spirits" have appeared at least 122 times at various events throughout the County, and in addition, the program by Sherry Johns, "Forgotten Female Felons" has also been seen from Pueblo to Westcliffe. These volunteers who present their stories are unique unto themselves, and are excellent story tellers about the lives of the folks they represent.
If you happen to be in Canon City on a First Friday Art Stroll, be sure to stop a "Spirit" and ask to hear the story of Fremont County from 1861 until the present.
Best to all,
Carol
